Kannur (Ker), Mar 17 (PTI) In a bizarre end to a love affair on internet, a medical student here hanged himself to death keeping his webcam on for his girlfriend to watch. Karthik, a third-year Dental College student at the Pariyaram Medical College here, took the extreme step after his lover reportedly suggested to him while chatting that she would like to end the relationship, police said.
Karthik was believed to have hanged himself in front of the webcam telling her he knew how to end things, while the girl kept on pleading with him not to take such a step, a senior police officer, probing the case, said. District Superintendent of Police S Sreejith told PTI that the computer and webcam had been seized for detailed probe to ascertain whether there was any conclusive evidence on the incident.
The details would be available after analysis of the computer and the webcam, he said. The girl, a distant relative of Karthik, is an MBA student in a college in Delhi.
According to Karthik's friends in the college, they were close to each other for long. The case has been referred to the cyber cell of the state police for detailed analysis of evidence and investigation.
Karthik's body was found on Saturday after his friends broke open the door of the hostel room as he did not come out for a whole day, police said.
