DELHI, HARYANA INK RECIPROCAL COMMON TRANSPORT AGREEMENT

After a gap of about two decades, the states of Delhi and Haryana inked the reciprocal common transport agreement which would facilitate Haryana state to operate over 1.64 lakh kms daily in the territory of Delhi and Delhi state to operate over 1.95 lakh kms daily in Haryana.
Haryana Transport Minister, Mange Ram Gupta said that this significant agreement which was finalized today would provide convenient transport facilities to the people of both the states as there was a substantial increase in demand for transport operations in both the states.
The Union Ministry of Urban Development had been stressing the NCR States of Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi to conclude the agreements so that the draft reciprocal common transport agreement for the operation of contract carriages, goods carriages and stage carriages would be finalized.
The Transport Minister said that earlier, according to the old agreement, Haryana was operating 64668 kms daily in the territory of Delhi state and likewise Delhi state was operating63935 kms daily in Haryana. Now with the finalization of new agreement, Haryana state would operate 90412 kms within the National Capital Region (NCR)out of the total 164170 kms and it would operating out of NCR in the remaining 73758 kms.
Similarly, Delhi state would operate 195561 kms daily in Haryana, out of which 107882 kms. Would be operating out of ncr area and 87679 kms would be operating within the area of NCR. Gupta said that fresh agreement with Rajasthan state had been concluded on April 25, 2008. The reciprocal agreement with up state was at final stages and was likely to be signed within a fortnight.
The interstate agreements with Punjab, Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh were at an advanced stage and were likely to be concluded very soon. The interstate agreement between Haryana and Delhi was today signed at Surajkund, Faridabad in the presence of the transport ministers of both the states.
