Mumbai: The Maharashtra government has appointed Divya Salaskar as an assistant sales tax commissioner based in Mumbai, 32 months after her father, Vijay Salaskar, a senior inspector, was gunned by terrorists during the 26/11 attacks.

Divya landed the job on compassionate grounds, following the intervention of Union Home Minister P Chidambaram who took her case to Maharashtra chief minister Prithviraj Chavan.

"Though I have not yet received the appointment letter. I am very happy to have been appointed as an assistant sales tax commissioner by the Maharashtra government. It is thanks to Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram that I have got this job," Divya, told Gulf News yesterday.
