75-year-old robbed of Rs 40,000 at bank

A 75-year-old man was robbed of Rs 40,000 by two unidentified men in Seshadripuram police limits on Tuesday morning.

Rama Rao, an employee in an engineering firm, was entrusted with the job of encashing a cheque of Rs 40,000 at Canara Bank in Seshadripuram. Rao was approached by the accused when he was counting the money.

They offered to help him count. When Rao gave them the money, one of them pointed out a soiled note and asked him to get it exchanged from the cashier.

When Rao went to exchange the note, the duo made away with the money.

Bank AGM's house burgled Miscreants broke into the house of Corporation Bank's assistant general manager in Mahalakshmi Layout and escaped with Rs 1.65 lakh and 1 kg of gold. The AGM R Sudarshan Raju was in Tirupati.
