for portable hdd which format is better ?

Short answer - NTFS
long answer, it depends., some devices like ps3 / android can't read ntfs.
so you will need to format as FAT32 or exFat

lately I am formatting external hdd as "BTRFS"

You'll need to install btrfs drivers, then format with "diskpart" > "format /fs:btrfs"

Sdcards mainly use exfat
External HDD NTFS would be fine

any cons of exfat? btw i sometimes need to use on mac

for full compatibility on mac, format with exfat.

mac can only read / copy from ntfs.

caution: exfat is susceptible to corruption, always do safe removal and keep backups of important data.

ntfs is more robust.
