Sunrisers Hyderabad have been dealt a sizeable blow as Ashish Nehra, their strike bowler, has been ruled out of the remainder of the Indian Premier League 2016 due to a hamstring injury. An official release from the franchise confirmed that he will not be available for the rest of the fixtures this year. This is the second time in the season when the Indian limited-overs pacer will miss games due to injury.

"Sunrisers Hyderabad spearhead, Ashish Nehra has sustained a significant hamstring tendon injury during the match against Kings XI Punjab on May 15, 2016. Nehra is now in consultation with a specialist orthopaedic surgeon for the most appropriate course of treatment to ensure a successful return to competitive cricket. Unfortunately he will play no further part in the ninth edition of the Indian Premier League," an official release said.

Nehra has been instrumental in Sunrisers' campaign thus far, picking up nine wickets in the eight matches he has played. This season-ending injury casts doubts over his international future. India's next limited-overs assignment is the tour of Zimbabwe, just 10 days after the IPL. If the 37-year-old speedster doesn't regain fitness by then, it remains to be seen if he carries on or calls it a day.
