A song from Aamir Khan's upcoming film 'Peepli Live' echoed in the Rajya Sabha today when a Shiv Sena member said Congress is not trying to rein in the "witch" of inflation.
"Lok Sabha elections are four years away. Hence Congress is not bothered about this witch of price rise...this is
assuming a dangerous form and sucking the blood of the poor," Sanjay Raut said while participating in the debate on
inflation.
He referred to a song from 'Peepli Live' -- "Sakhi sainya toh khub hi kamaat hai, mehngai dain khaye jaat hai" (My
husband earns a lot but all get eaten by the witch of inflation).
The soon to be released film is a satire on media and society against the backdrop of farmers' suicides.
