Long delayed film to finally release

Few things pain an actor and director more than to endure the delay of a film that’s close to their heart. Aashayein, the script of which made John Abraham cry when he first read it, has been lying in the cans for over two years.

Director Nagesh Kukunoor originally planned to release the film in 2008. Its music was also launched in May the same year. But, for one reason or other, the film got delayed and any hope of it making it to the marquee was all but dashed; but now comes the good news.

Aashayein (Hopes) is finally going to release on August 27.

In the movie, John plays a compulsive gambler whose life goes for a toss after he learns that he doesn’t have much time left to live. Thereafter his life takes a turn for good. The movie also stars Sonal Sehgal, Prateeksha Lonkar, Girish Karnad, Farida Jalal and Ashwin Chitale.

The film has been made under the banner of Percept Picture Company.
