A fresh approach to role

Deepika Padukone did not turn to performances of other Bollywood actresses to play a blind girl in Lanfangey Parindey. In the past, actresses like Rani Mukherjee and Kajol have played blind characters in films Black and Fanaa respectively.

“I have seen Rani in ‘Black’ and Kajol in ‘Fanaa’, but I didn't see them before my own performance because I didn't want to be influenced by anyone else's performance. I wanted my own take on what suits my character,” Deepika told reporters at a press meet at a studio where a set of Tilak Wadi, which is a fictitious place in Lafangey Parindey, was erected.

Deepika added that she rather learnt how to approach her character by observing blind people.

“I have spend a lot of time with blind people and that helped me a lot,” she said.

At the press meet, Deepika and Neil along with a bunch of singers and dancers performed a small act from the film.
