'America's Next Top Model' to Get Indian Version

An Indian version of the Tyra Banks-created America's Next Top Model is set to air on MTV India. Bulldog Media & Entertainment has licensed the format from CBS Corp.'s CBS Studios International, with India's Next Top Model going on air by mid-2015, the companies announced at MIPTV in Cannes.

America's Next Top Model has been licensed in more than 100 markets, with 20 international versions in production. The Indian version will see 12 girls living under one roof, mentored by experts and celebrities each week. Following a series of elimination rounds, the final winner will be decided. "The format continues to entertain audiences all around the world, and we are excited to have the opportunity to see the Indian version make its debut,” CBS Studios International vp international sales and production Roxanne Pompa said. “Specially adapted for the Indian audience, India's Next Top Model will look for the fresh faces, one amongst who can be the next supermodel and make India proud on the global platform,” added Bulldog Media & Entertainment co-founder and executive producer Akash Sharma.“With our strong reach across platforms, we are eager to engage with young people across the country to bring alive this exciting franchise,” said Viacom18 Media executive vp and business head for MTV and MTV Indies Aditya Swamy. America's Next Top Model originally aired in 2003 on UPN before its merger with The WB created The CW, on which it currently airs. Bulldog Media had earlier licensed local formats for shows such as Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader (which was hosted by Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan), Beauty and the Geek and the People's Choice Awards.​
