Malwai Giddha

Malwai Giddha is the folk dance of Malwa region of Punjab. This dance is performed by bachelors. This includes teasing of other people in their folk bolliyan (songs).

It originated in the Malwa region of Punjab (Muktsar, Bathinda, Faridkot, Ferozpur, Sangrur, Mansa, and Patiala districts). This was usually performed by veteran bachelors. Folk instruments are used by the performers. Performers play instruments and use them for the music. No other extra music is played.

Instruments

The instruments used in the Malwai Giddha are not merely for show. The performer has to play it in rhythm. The performer needs to know not only how to play the instrument but also the way to carry it. The instruments are decorated.

The folk instruments used in Malwai Giddha are:

* Chimta :A chimta \ literally meaning tongs, is a traditional percussion instrument of South Asia, often used in popular Punjabi Bhangra music. The chimta consists of a long, flat folded piece of metal steel strip, often with 7 pairs of small metal jingles. The rings are plucked in a downward motion to produce tinkling sounds.It is also used for cooking chapati in almost every Indian home.

Chimtas with large discs are used at rural festivals while ones with smaller discs are often used as an accompaniment to bhangra dancers and singers of traditional Indian hymns.

* Tumbi ::The Tumbi (Punjabi ਤੂੰਬੀ tūmbī) is a traditional North Indian instrument from the Punjab region. The high pitched, single string plucking instrument is associated with folk music of Punjab and presently very popular in Western Bhangra music.

The instrument is made of a wooden stick mounted with a toomba or wooden resonator covered with skin. A metallic string is passed on a resonator over a bridge and tied to the key at the end of the stick. The string is struck with the continuous flick and retraction of the forefinger.
The tumbi was popularized by the Punjabi folk-singer Lal Chand Yamla Jatt. In the 1960s, 70s and 80s most of the singers used the tumbi. The most popular were Kuldip Manak, Amar Singh Chamkila and Mohammed Sadiq.

* Sapp Chikka Strips made of wood in Multiple X Shape
You shud See Urself

* Buckchu It Looks Like Damru but on One side it Has A string Which has to be striked to made sound "BUKCHU" that is why it is called Bukchu

* Dholki Dholaki (ਢੋਲਕੀ) is a North Indian, Pakistani and Nepalese double-headed hand-drum. It may have traditional lacing or turnbuckle tensioning: in the former case rings are used for tuning, though the dholak is mainly a folk instrument, lacking the exact tuning of the tabla or the pakhawaj. It is widely used in qawwali, kirtan and various styles of North Indian folk music. It was formerly much used in classical dance.
* Kaatto
* Saarangi

* Gadvi-Chhitar It is normal Home vessel "GarhWi" Used to make sound with some thing
