Acne is a skin disease caused due to the imbalance of duct system and sebaceous glands. The condition arrives due to the increase in the production of sebum as a result of hormonal imbalance, stress or blockage of tubule. This is finally termed as acne. Different types of skin bacteria get trapped beneath the surface of the skin and chemically react with the sebum to break down into free fatty acids. At this stage proper skin care is required and only good skin care products should be used.

Acne is of different types and is broadly classified into three categories: mild, moderate or severe. If you feel you have acne, then the first and foremost thing to do is, to consult a good Dermatologist. He will provide you a prescription according to the severity and type of your cane. Usually Mild acne is treated by gently washing the area twice daily with warm water and medicated soap. In addition, a medicated cream or ointment should be used on the acne prone area.

An important thing about acne is that it can occur in any part of the body. Moreover, its treatment takes time and therefore should be dealt with patience. In some cases certain vitamins are also prescribed by the Physicians to improve the condition of the skin. The acne is termed as Moderate when the pimples cover nearly half of the face. In such a case, varied therapies are used like extraction or light therapy and a prescription treatment like an antimicrobial or retinoid cream.

At times, oral contraceptives are also recommended for healing. As acne leaves scars, it should be taken care about, in the moderate stage. However, if the acne has reached the severe stage, the pimples and zits will become deep. There will be inflammation and scarring of the skin, which might damage the skin to a great extent. At this stage the doctor will use aggressive therapies to prevent the disease from spreading. The treatment will take place in steps and will also tackle the problem of scarring.

Oral antibiotics are inevitable at this stage and in acute cases Acne surgery can be practiced. Acne treatment requires proficient medical help of professional, proper skin care, time and patience. Do not fall for misguiding information in a hurry to cure the disease. It can further aggravate the condition and lead you into trouble. Patiently follow the prescription of your doctor and take good care of your skin. Also, do not be depressed and de-motivated as acne is completely curable, irrespective of the fact that it might take a considerable amount of time.
