While Guru Angad Dev Ji is absorbed in teaching children an enraged King Humayun has his hand on his sword.

When Humayun the elder son of Babur was defeated by Sher Shah he came to seek the blessing of Guru Angad Dev Ji. At the time Guru Ji were absorbed in teaching the children to read. Feeling offended for not being immediately attended to he put his hand on the hilt of his sword. Guru Ji looked up calmly and said It is unchivalrous for a king to flee from the battlefield and vent their wrath upon men of God. Hearing these words of wisdom Humayun realised his folly and begged forgiveness.

Guru Nanak dev Ji gives the divine message to Emporer Babur.

"Listen O King" warned Guru Ji "go and survey the scene of destruction that has been caused by your army. Take a warning from those who have defeated others . He who is victorious today, may suffer defeat tomorrow. Where are those Kings who ruled here yesterday ? Where are those who buckled on their swords and those who where mighty in battle? In one moment the Lord creates and in another he can destroy."

Guru Nanak Dev Ji visits the home of Bhai Lalo.

Guru ji had visited the house of Bhai Bhago who was a rich but crafty merchant but had not eaten any of his beautifully prepared food.Guru Ji then arrived at Bhai Lalos house, a poor farmer but rich of heart who earned his living honestly. Close behind Guru Ji followed Bhai Bhago. "Why did you not eat any of my food Guru Ji ?" he enquired. Guru Ji took one of his roties that he had brought with him and in the other hand took a roti from Bhai Lalos household. When squee- zed, milk flowed from Bhai Lalos roti while blood flowed from Bhai Bhagos.

Bhai Handal bowing to Guru Amar Das Ji.

The institution of Guru-ka-langur (free kitchen) was growing and becoming a great force during the time of Guru Amar Das Ji. Guru Ji ensured that social prejudices were renounced and equality of mankind accepted by all those who came to seek his blessings. Every devotee whether Hindu or Muslim, Brahmin or Shudra, rich or poor was asked to partake of food in the langur before he/she could see the Guru.
Once when Guru Ji came to visit the langar Bhai Handal Ji was kneading dough. He was delighted to see Guru Ji and as he prepared to bow he realised that to maintain cleanliness he needed to keep his hands off the floor. He put his hands behind his back and bowed infront of Guru Ji. Guru Amar Das ji was greatly impressed and appointed him as a preacher. He went back to his home town of Jandiala and started preaching the Guru's messa

Pundit Kirpa Ram and a deputation from Kashmir appeal to Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji to save them from the Moghuls.

In 1671 the Governer of Kashmir had ordered that all Hindus be converted to Islam. Terrified, the Kashmiri Brahmins came to Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji.While Guru Ji was pondering over the threatening situation his young son Gobind Rai Ji approached him and said "O father, what are you thinking?" Guru ji said "The only remedy for this grave situation is for some man of god, some saintly person to give up his life to quench this fire of evil." Young Gobind Rai Ji replied " What House is greated then that of Guru Nanak, go help these people." Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji was satisfied that his son had grown into a worthy successor to the Guruship of Guru Nanak. Guru Ji told the Brahmins "Go tell the Governer, Guru Tegh Bahadur the ninth Guru of the Sikhs, who is now seated on the throne of Guru Nanak is our protector of faith and religion. If you first convert him, then all shall follow, if you cannot, then all shall be freed."
