MSI’s been dropping lots of laptops on we poor gadget bloggers lately, and now, coming only a few weeks after the GE600 announced a few weeks ago comes the GE700, a 17.3 inch gaming behemoth.
The resolution of that display isn’t being specified, but it doesn’t stretch credibility too thin to imagine it will support 1080p… although MSI’s press release doesn’t actually mention what sort of optical drive the GE700 is shipping with, which makes the presence of Blu-Ray on the machine inferable only by the color of the disc sliding out of the machine in the official product shot.
Otherwise, what we are looking at here is an Intel Core i5 CPU coupled with an ATI Radeon HD5730 discrete GPU with 1GB of DDR3 BRAM. The GE700 also ships with two excellent, cinema-class speakers, a built-in subwoofer, a 720p webcam (I bet you can’t wait for your long-distance girlfriend to be able to see the true depth of your pores in glorious high resolution) and support for up to two hard drives.
It packs Windows 7 Home Premium as the operating system, and also comes with a 4-in-1 multicard reader, four USB 2.0 ports, HDMI, 802.11 b/g/n WiFi and Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR.
Unfortunately, the GE700 has neither price nor release date attached, but MSI isn’t known for holding its products back for too long, so you can expect to see this at your local Best Buy sooner rather than later.
