With the iPad launch still fresh in our memories Digitimes is reporting that Apple already has plans to release a smaller version of the tablet device early next year.
According to Digitimes Research senior analyst Mingchi Kuo component manufacturers are already preparing for the device. It will sport a display of between 5 and 7 inches, and will be priced at below $400. Apple will be positioning it as a device for users who do not want to do a lot of writing and will mainly use the mini iPad for viewing content such as e-books.
We won’t have to wait too long to see if Apple is going to launch such a device. Kuo also states that the small iPad will be on the market in the first quarter of 2011.
