Samsung has been long-rumoured to be working on a Tizen-based smartphone dubbed Z1 likely to launch first in India.
An earlier report had speculated that the South Korean company is holding a press conference on December 10 to launch its first Tizen smartphone to be called the Z1. However, the company never materialised the rumoured Z1 Tizen-based handset for the Indian market.

Now, Tizen Experts reports citing insiders claim that the company is expected to "release soon" the Samsung Z1 phone in India; though there is no exact word on release date.

The report further referred to Indian import/ export site, Zauba data and suggested that the company in last 3 to 4 weeks has shipped 2.4 million individual pieces related to the Samsung Z1 (SM-Z130H). The report added that the parts imported to India had a value of over Rs. 10.6 crores while "total cost is likely to be far greater than this figure".

Considering that Samsung has been importing parts of the Samsung Z1 Tizen handset, the report speculates that the South Korean brand might still be busy assembling and testing the handset in India. So far, no announcement regarding the launch of Z1 Tizen smartphone has been by Samsung India.

Last month, a report suggested that the much-anticipated SM-Z130H low-end Tizen smartphone was codenamed Kiran internally. Additionally, the report tipped that the handset will run Tizen 2.3 OS version out-of-the-box.

Some of the rumoured specifications of the Samsung Z1 include a 4-inch WVGA (480x800) TFT LCD display; a dual-core Spreadtrum SC7727S processor clocked at 1.2GHz; Mali-400 GPU; 512MB of RAM; dual-SIM support; 3.2-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, and a 0.3-megapixel front-facing camera. Connectivity options expected include Bluetooth 4.0; GPS/ A-GPS; GLONASS; Wi-Fi (802.11n), and Micro-USB.
