Nexus 5 users facing problems after updating to Android 5.0 Lollipop

Several Nexus 5 users are complaining about bugs in the software, poor battery life, and Wi-Fi issues after they updated their phones to Android 5.0 Lollipop.

Last month, Google started rolling out Android 5.0 Lollipop update, which brought many new features, and also a complete new graphical overhaul with a new design language called Material Design. Several sophisticated security features are also been introduced. But it looks like that Google has not tested the new update before rolling it out as many users are facing numerous issues.

We all know how famous the Nexus 5 was for its short battery life and the new update has shortened it further. Several users have complained about massive battery drains. Installing the latest version of Google PlayStore (v6.5) will supposedly fix the battery drain issue. Many of them also reported issues including the device excessively heating up, and Wi-Fi causing a battery drain among others.

Though these issues aren’t affecting all the Nexus 5 handsets. We have a Nexus 5 handset on us, which is running the latest Android 5.0, But we haven’t faced any of the above issues, Everything works fine.

Recently Google made Android 5.0.1 update available on its developer portal for Nexus devices (not for Nexus 5). This update aims to remove bugs. But so far the update has only been reported to fix playback issues and tone down sensitivity in the lockscreen for some users.
