Serial smartphone leakster EvLeaks is at it again. This time, with pictures of the much-anticipated Motorola X phone. Though the images released by EvLeaks do not give us a clear picture of the whole phone, we do get three different shots of the purported X phone’s display as well as a singular shot of the back panel. Another tidbit being floated around by EvLeaks is the X phone’s codename, Ghost.

The Motorola X phone in the casing

The actual phone is wrapped in a generic case that is presumably there to hide the actual final design of the phone. It could also be that this particular device is a late-stage prototype. PhoneArena says that their sources have corroborated these images and that they are indeed from the real handset. The rear panel pictured in the second image leaked by EvLeaks has a criss-cross design that reminds us a lot of the Motorola Droid Razr’s back. Unfortunately, the back is said to be made of polycarbonate and not the Kevlar that Motorola has preferred in recent years. Google is really planning a big splash and the X phone will supposedly be launching in over 20 colours.

Earlier rumours about the X phone have suggested that the 3.5mm headphone jack will be centred on the top edge of the device, and this looks to be the case with these latest images as well. The power and volume buttons both sit on the right edge of the device. If indeed the battery is non-removable, we reckon the SIM tray will rest on the left edge. The label on the back of the device is hazy at best, but the model number XFON ATT is visible. This suggests that the X phone will launch on AT&T, which would be a first for Google’s devices. Reports suggest the X Phone will be arriving on Motorola’s traditional launch partner Verizon too, besides other major carriers.

The back of the phone

The X phone is reportedly scheduled for release in early July, so it may not be long before we see the actual phone. Rumours say the X phone will have 32GB of internal storage, 2GB of RAM and a 1080p-resolution 4.7-inch display. The X phone will eschew Motorola’s Moto Blue skin for a close to stock Android experience along with minor Motorola customisations.
