Following the release of iLife ’11, many individuals found out the hard way that upgrading their iPhoto application from version 8.0 to the new 9.0 version would delete their entire library of photos. Luckily, Cupertino, California-based Apple Inc. released update 9.0.1 on Friday in order to fix the controversial data loss issue.

The company has also provided a document that explains how to prevent data loss while upgrading from an earlier version of iPhoto.
