Veteran Punjabi actor Mehar Mittal’s condition stable, says family

Amid the rumours of veteran Punjabi actor Mehar Mittal’s demise that were being circulated widely on social media, his family confirmed that his condition was stable.
The octogenarian Mittal is admitted in an Ahmadabad hospital.
Born in Bathinda on October 24, 1935, he is one of the finest comedians of his time. Mittal has worked in more than 100 movies and ruled Punjabi cinema for three decades. He is one of the actors who set a benchmark through his comic roles.
Ramesh Garg, his nephew told Hindustan Times that Mittal’s condition is stable and is under medical observation in the hospital. “I had a word with other family members present at the hospital, who briefed that he was down with fever. Though his condition was initially critical, but now he is stable,” he said.
He added even the family failed to know from where the rumours of his death came from.
Earlier in the day, Punjabi actor and comedian Rana Ranbir had also shared a post on Facebook, clearing air on the rumour:

A law graduate, Mittal practiced law for around eight years in Chandigarh. Mittal started his acting career while doing small roles in Ram Lila and then acted in several plays during his stay. His debut movie was ‘Sacha Mera Roop Hai’, which released in 1974. His other famous movies were ‘Qurbani Jatt Di’, ‘Chann Pardesi’, ‘Jorr Jatt Da’, ‘Lambhardarni’, ‘Santo Banto’, ‘Walayati Babu’, ‘Sawa Lakh Se Ek Ladaun’, ‘Putt Jattan De’, ‘Babul Da Vehra’ and others.
The actor was also honoured with the Dadasaheb Phalke Academy Award.
