The Metro line between Dwarka and Noida/Vaishali remained disrupted for two hours on Sunday morning. Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) officials said that the area between the Indraprastha and Yamuna Bank stations on the Dwarka-Vaishali/Noida Metro line developed a technical snag at 9am. This effected the frequency of the trains, causing resentment among the riders.
“There was little delay in services on Line-3 (Dwarka-Noida/Vaishali) between 9.15am and 11.15am due to Track Circuit drop (signalling issue which resulted due to minor rail fracture) between Indraprastha and Yamuna Bank stations on up line (the line from Noida/Vaishali towards Dwarka),” said a DMRC spokesperson.
“To analyse the cause, access to the track was given twice to the staff which led to minor delay in services during this period. After temporary repair, services on Line 3 were resumed by 11.15am. There is no major dislocation to train services,” said the spokesperson.
The DMRC was to do the repair work during the night.
There is a unique ID of every train which is monitored by the DMRC from Metro Bhawan Connaught Place and Shashtri Park.
As per DMRC, Metro Bhawan lost tracking of a train suddenly and it took an hour to regain the tracking by engineers. The spokesperson said that the train tracking circuit dropped for the first time on a Metro route.
Meanwhile, several Metro riders were unhappy. Sunil Saurabh, going from Noida to Rajiv Chowk, said, “I boarded the train at 9.30am from Sector 16 station and there was a huge crowd. I reached Rajiv Chowk by 11.30am. The stations were crowded and nobody was aware of the reason for the delays.”
The train service, however, remained disrupted on the entire line between Dwarka and Noida/Vaishali even after technical problem was fixed.
“The frequency went down to one train arriving after 15 to 20 minutes. My train stopped on the Yamuna bridge for over 20 minutes. Everybody was talking about the problem,” said Srikant Soni, a rider.
