SIKHS GO ON RAMPAGE PROTESTING KILLING BY DERA CHIEF'S GUARD

Mumbai June 22:
Agitated over the killing of one person in firing by Dera Sacha Sauda chief's staff, Sikhs today went on a rampage on the streets of Mumbai targeting police personnel and commoners and blocked rail and road traffic.
Police charged with batons and lobbed teargas shells to disperse the protesters and ended the three-hour blockade of the busy Eastern Express Highway. The protesters also forced shopkeepers in suburban Mulund area, where the death took place yesterday, to down their shutters and targeted the railways by staging a "rail roko" agitation for over 45 minutes.
At Clashes broke out between Sikh protestors and the police at Airoli junction near Mulund on Eastern Express highway and the police resorted to lathicharge and teargas to disperse the protestors off the highway. The situation in and around suburban Mulund area was tense since last night's violent protests by Sikhs against Dera Sachha Sauda's chief Ram Rahim Singh's entourage and subsequent death of a person in firing by Dera chief's bodyguards. A group of Sikhs blocked the Express highway and fought pitched battles with police.
