Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) accepted Younis Khan's apology for showing dissent against the on-field umpire and walking away from the Pakistan Cup, Shahryar Khan, the chairman of the cricket board, confirmed on Wednesday (April 27). Younis had been fined 100 percent of his match fee in the domestic tournament. The cricket board had issued a show cause to senior batsman for breaching several clauses of his central contract, on Tuesday.

"Younis has served Pakistan cricket for a number of years and he has developed a shining reputation in Pakistan and abroad. While this incident is unfortunate, I am glad to note that Younis has admitted his mistake," Shahryar said.

Younis, leading the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, reportedly had a verbal exchange with Rashid Riaz, the reserve umpire, in the match against Islamabad. Riaz then complained to Azizur Rehman, the match referee, who fined the captain. Having now apologised for his misdemeanour, Younis is likely to return to lead his side in the tournament.
