No offence but even hazrat mohd saab used to carry sword... plus in temples most of the gods and goddesses statues carry weapons... shivji has trishool....ram ji has bow and arrow....durga and kali are weapon specialists......then wen it come to sikhs..suddenly weapons in gurdwara are not fair......even britishers didnt use tanks on people during thr rule.....it was the biggest mistake ever done by the govt.....

BTW, Do you know what was the whole struggle for? And why it could not be resolved by bilateral talks?

No, I am not very clear. was it sikh sovereignty , autonomy for punjab, the moot Anandpur sahib resolution or barring little girls from wearing skirts :-?

Larger share of water for irrigation, return of Chandigarh to Punjab. More autonomy in decision making and official recognition of Sikhs just like other religions are recognized.

While I may not agree with everything that akalis said but what was promised in 1947 by Nehru was never delivered by anyone. If you had told all the Sikhs back then that they would be treated as third class citizens, it is a no brainier that we would have opted for a separate country.

Naale jeh kadi time Lagea research Canada's Quebec problem. Quebec in Canada is a hotbed of seperatist activity but instead of driving tanks up their ass Canadian government has given them independent status within Canada, made French the second language and constantly engages and talks with them. If your idiotic people are still serious about not alienating a resourceful community then give Chandigarh to Punjab, punish the guilty for massacres and that would reduce the seperatist activities or you could just drive tanks in their street and burn their house down again and Hang them when they retaliate. So much for being gandhwadi.

I don't depend on river water for irrigation, nor I know anyone who does. ( and I have relatives and friends all over punjab ) . Could you be kind enough to provide stats of who and how much water do we need ?

Chandigarh: As resident of the City, I enjoy 24hr electricity, lower taxes, good condition of roads and parks. etc. etc.
I will be very miserable if chandigarh is transefered to Punjab whereas It will hardly effect you. So why can't you let Chandigarhias decide and just mind your own business :)

Autonomy: More power to Badal co. or Captain co., the very though terrifies me, no thanks.

Punjabis don't depend on irrigation water, b'coz they stupidly using ground water, burning diesel and depleting water table. Ground water in Punjab has gone well below 200ft which will never be recovered. If govt. facilitates the use of river water for irrigation then Punjabi farmer do not need to dig water out and burn resources. It's economical and ecological loss to Punjabies.

So Why can't India let Punjab decide about its economy, resources and politics, and just mind its own business :)
Autonomy: More power to Badal co. or Captain co., the very though terrifies me, no thanks.
Autonomy: More power to Punjab legislature, elected representatives. It's just not Badal or Captain it could have been Kairon, Maan or it can be any other good leader in future.
BTW: how the hell more centralized power in hands of Hindutva BJP or Congress helps?? They both denied justice & disturbed communal harmony throughout India. Not only Punjabi, but Assames, manipuri, nagaland, tribal belts are also upset with centralized power.
Divison of power and delegation of responsibilities is the way to successfull organization.

doesn't matter.....Pani ser to langya hoya.......hun ta tukde tukde hi hon ge jiss din hoye........ajj nahi ta kal. Corruption ne USSR ni shadya, India ta fer ki aa.

Centralized powers sirf sirf te state di resources suck kardiya ne (just like corporates), fer baad ch chuse hoye aamb waang side te sutt dindiya. Ohna lai development, education, quality of life index sirf vota tak seemat aa.........

I have lived in Punjab since i was born there and also Chandigarh, since my dad works for the Central Government of India and was transferred there. So, it is not just YOUR problem. :ttw

When i said "research the Quebec problem", i had hoped you would actually read up on it. In 2006, the parliament of Canada passed a resolution recognizing Quebec as a "nation" within a nation after being forced by Bloc Quebocois(call them Akali dal of Quebec) when they sought to declare Quebec independent.

I am also deadly against any transfer of power to Badal and company but a symbolic gesture in the parliament with a motion to recognize Chandigarh as only the capital of Punjab or recognizing the failure of system in 1984 would accomplish what your tanks couldn't do in 1984.

Ah jehri ego-fuelled high headedness a, ki meh Chandigarh rehna, meh Delhi rehna so i shouldn't care about the rest of the country. Eh shadni paini a, jeh dujian communities nu alienate ni karna.

Kindly, can you tell me what water Punjab or your relatives uses for irrigation? I would provide you with a link to the report on what the issues are with the regards to that, when you do.

While i find the old report that i had. You can maybe read this or let me quote some for you.

http://www.sikhreview.org/pdf/march2004/pdf-files/controversy.pdf

"There is hardly any state except Punjab, which does not enjoy full and exclusive power in relation to irrigation and hydel power of its own state rivers. Ironically, Sections 78 to 80 were introduced in the Punjab Reorganization Act 1966, which gave all powers to the Centre ultra vires of the Constitution.
In addition, these sections are violative of the equality article 14 of the Constitution because these are discriminatory for the reason that while the Act gives exclusive rights of waters of Yamuna to Haryana, it makes the waters of three Punjab rivers not only distributable by the Centre but also vests their control with the Central Government."

Tuhade peo da raaj a jehra non-riparian states such as Rajasthan nu Punjab da paani supply kari jane oh with the dissapproval of Punjab's politicians and people?

Surely, if you want us to mind our own business then stop taking our waters?

You see what i did there?
