The Vigilance Bureau today arrested Santosh Kumar Gupta, deputy director, Animal Husbandry Department, Sangrur, when he was allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 800 from a clerk of his office here.
Shiv Kumar Sharma, SSP, Vigilance Bureau, said the bureau had registered a case against Santosh Kumar Gupta under Sections 7, 13 (2) 88 of the Prevention of Corruption Act on the complaint of Sanjiv Kumar, a clerk in Gupta’s office at Sangrur. The SSP also said Sanjiv Kumar had applied for three years’ leave from November 2007 under a self-employment scheme. The deputy director allegedly demanded Rs 1,000 from Sanjiv for releasing his salary of some months for the leave period.
