The Chevrolet Sail sedan has managed to garner 7000 bookings since it was launched in January. The sedan is a boot on hatch version of the Sail U-VA hatchback and shares all its components including the engine line up with the U-VA.
The Chevrolet Sail sedan is powered by petrol and a diesel engine. While the former is a 1.2-litre mill producing 86bhp and 113Nm of torque with an ARAI certified fuel efficiency figure of 18.2kmpl, the diesel engine is a 1.3-litre mill producing 78bhp and 205Nm of torque with an ARAI certified fuel efficiency of 22.1kmpl. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a five-speed manual gearbox.
The Sail has been a major saviour for the American automaker as it has fared far better than its hatchback sibling by selling almost a 1000 units over the former. However, the Sail sedan may have a tough time once the Honda Amaze sedan is launched on April 11.
