Amazing Future Projects Of Dubai


0-14 Tower



This new tower, 0-14, was designed by Reiser + Umemoto RUR Architecture P.C. and developer Shahab Lutfi. The building was designed for Dubai’s Business Bay and features 22 floors covered in a double skin facade. That is, outermost skin is constructed from 40c, thick perforated concrete. The one meter space between the skins creates a chimney effect, cooling the building.



Arabian Tower



The Arabian Blade is a mixed-use tower designed by Claudio Catalano. The building
was inspired by the formation of plants and combines several volumes into one unit. It will
contain residences flats along with a hotel and commercial space.


Burj Dubai












Dancing Towers



Zaha Hadid’s “Dancing Towers” are planned to be located in Dubai’s Business Bay development area. The plan consists of three buildings which rise up from the ground bending and intertwining with each other to create fluid animation of the forms. Even the buildings have started dancing now.. lol!

DubaiLand Snow Dome



Snowdome, previously referred to as Dubai Sunny Mountain Skidome, will be a gigantic indoor ski dome project, that will be part of the Attraction and Experience World of the mega tourism project, Dubailand. The AED 3.7 billion (US$ 1 billion) development will cover an area of 1.4 million square feet (130 thousand square meters) and contain a host of snow and ice based activities for children and adults.




Falcon City Of Wonders



Falcon City of Wonders, also known as FalconCity, is a 100 acre (405 thousand square meter) development being built within Dubailand. The AED 5.5 billion (US$ 1.5 billion) project will be a multi-faceted residential, tourist, entertainment and recreational destination that will contain residential apartments, villas, shopping malls, hotels, restaurants, health clubs and spas, schools and parks.

Madinat Al Arab

Madinat Al Arab is the representation of one of the districts of the future greater sea front in the world, Dubai Waterfront. This sight accounts for the architectural ambition and the spectacular development of real constructions in Dubai.

Dubai Marina

Dubai Marina, formerly named Westside Marina, has been referred to as the world’s largest man-made marina and is amongst the world’s largest master planned waterfront development. The development project was started in 1998 and will cover an area of 53 million square feet (4.9 million square meters). It was carved along a 3.34km (2 miles) stretch of Dubai’s shoreline and is a mixed-use canal-city inspired in the Venetian tradition. It will accommodate over 120 thousand people in their luxury apartment towers and villas, with a unique waterfront view.

Dubai Metro

Dubai Metro is a driverless, fully automated metro network under construction in the United Arab Emirates city of Dubai. The network will have two third rail collection system powered lines that will both run underground in the city center and on elevated viaducts elsewhere on double tracks. The first phase of the network is being built by Dubai Rapid Link (DURL) Consortium which comprises Japanese companies including Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Mitsubishi Corporation, Obayashi Corporation, Kajima Corporation and the Turkish company Yapi Merkezi. The Dubai Metro will be operated by the Dubai Road and Transport Authority. The Dubai Metro system will be the longest fully automated rail system in the world. Completion of the first section of the system is projected for 9-9-2009.


Abu Dhabi is also planing to have their own metro project and the Dubai and Abudhabi Metros will exchange passengers at diffrent stations to have an intercity link.

Dubai Old Town

It is the final district of the building site located at the foot of the tower Burj Dubai. This great real complex will include the highest tower and the greatest shopping centre of the world as well as a gigantic residential district!




The Opus

The Opus will appear to hover from the ground. Constructed of three separate towers the building will appear as a singular unified whole, with a distinctive void. The interiors of which will be clad with a fully engineered curved glass curtain wall to allow for eye-catching views into the void. Reflexive fretting patterns in the form of pixilated striations will be applied onto the glass facade to provide a degree of reflectivity and materiality to the cube while assisting in the reduction of solar gains inside the building. Within the Opus there will be a retail podium across the ground, first and second floor. The uppermost floor will feature a tranquility zone, a beach deck with a reflective pool and shaded roof terrace a media zone and a gym. The building boasts an AAA-class rating and has 87 per cent space efficiency.

Dubai Pearl

Dubai Pearlwas originally conceived by the Omnix Group in 2002 but has since been taken over by a consortium of investors led by the Al Fahim Group. The 3 billion USD project overlooks the Palm Jumeriah and covers 1.4 million square metres of the Dubai Media and Technology Free Zone.




Dubai Renaissance

Dubai Renaissance was designed by architects Rem Koolhaas and Fernando Donis of OMA for the Dubai Business Bay development competition. Their entry lost to Hadid’s Dancing Towers.

Dubai Sports City

This immense sporting complex of 7.5 km² will accomodate sports such as the cricket, the golf, Rugby, football, the sports of ground, track, and interior (tennis shoe, handball, volley ball).




Dubai Towers

Dubai Towers is the centerpiece for the large ‘Lagoons’ development. The buildings and the
development were all conceived of by TVS. The four towers range in size from 54 to 97 floors and were inspired by the flames and movement of candlelight.




Dubai Waterfront

Advancing on water of the Gulf, this whole of islands in the shape of crescent will extend on 81 square kilometres, becoming the greatest sea front in the world!




Golden Dome

Golden Dome, with its 455 m height and its 2,2 million m² of total surface, will be one of bulkiest and highiest buildings of the world. It will shelter 500 000 m² offices, commercial spaces like 3,000 residential apartments etc.




Dubai Hydropolis

Entirely assembled in Germany, this underwater hotel will be immersed with broad waterfront of Dubai at the end of 2006. It will comprise 220 continuations whose panoramic windows will give views of sea-beds. The price of a room for the night would rise upto 500 dollars.




Palm Islands

Three artificial island in the shape of palm trees will shelter nearly 500 apartments, 2000 villas, 25 hotels and 200 shops of luxury. Palm Jumeirah, the most advanced, will be completed as of the end of 2005. Hundred twenty-five kilometers of coast additional will be thus created artificially.




Sports Science World

Space is one of the subjects exploited in the immense park with topics of Dubailand which has the ambition to become the largest tourist park and of attractions in the world.




The Cloud

It’s just a concept, so don’t get your hopes high! :)
The Cloud is a speculative design for a resort city elevated 300 metres in the air above Dubai and is just supported on slanting legs resembling rain. It is designed by Nadim Karam, a Lebanese architect. It is a horizontal presence on an elevated platform, an antithesis to the sum of skyscrapers spreading over the entire region. This looks scary :P

The World

The World is a man-made archipelago of 300 islands constructed in the shape of a world map and located 4 kilometres (2.5 miles) off the coast of Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Palm Islands. Like the other artificial island projects, The World is built primarily using sand dredged from the sea. It was developed by Nakheel Properties and was originally conceived by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the ruler of Dubai. The World is one of several artificial island projects being constructed in Dubai

Arch Bridge

Dubai is building the first and the world’s biggest and the tallest arch bridge. The image you see above was envisioned by the New York architect firm, FxFowle. The construction will be starting from March 2008, and is expected to be completed by 2012.
Some random statistics I’ve been able to find are:

  • It’s one mile long and 670 feet tall.
  • It will have 12 lanes for traffic.
  • It will cost 817 million dollars.
  • The design has Sheikh Mohammed’s official stamp of approval.
  • The bridge will carry more than 2,000 vehicles per hour in each direction.
  • A metro line will run across the middle.
  • Construction begins in March, with a slated completion date of 2012

Dubai Mall

The Dubai Mall is a mall being built in Dubai, United Arab Emirates by Emaar Properties. The mall is a part of “Downtown Dubai.” Developers claim it will be the largest mall in the world when completed. It will open on 31 August 2008.
It will cover a total area of 12.1 million ft², with 10 - 15 individual smaller malls built inside it, consisting of 9 million ft² of shopping retail space (comprising of a total of 1200 stores). Featured attractions include the world’s largest gold souk; the 850,000 ft² Fashion Island; one of the world’s largest aquariums; an Olympic-sized ice skating rink; Oasis Fountain Waterfall; WaterFront Atrium; a view of the (soon to be completed) world’s tallest building, Burj Dubai. The mall has already won five awards. It won two awards at the Retail Future Project Awards at MAPIC, Cannes, in 2004, for Best Retail Development Scheme (Large), Best Use of Lighting in a Retail Environment.[3] And the Dubai Mall brochure has won three awards at the Summit Creative Awards 2005, in Portland, Oregon; Gold award for Best Art Direction / Graphic Design, Silver award for Best 4-colour B2B Brochure, and Judges Special Recognition award.Currently, the largest mall in the world is believed to be the South China Mall in Dongguan, China, spreading over 9.6 million ft²




Dubai World Central International Airport

At the heart of this huge new community is the Dubai World Central International Airport, the world’s largest passenger and cargo hub, ten times larger than Dubai International Airport and Dubai Cargo Village combined.
The airport will have an annual cargo capacity of 12 million tons, more than three times that of Memphis, today’s largest cargo hub, and a passenger capacity of more than 120 million - almost 30% more than Atlanta, currently the world’s busiest passenger airport.
Built for the future, Dubai World Central International Airport has been designed to handle all next-generation aircraft, including the A380 super-jumbo. Up to four aircraft will be able to land simultaneously, 24 hours a day, minimising in-air queuing.
The region’s biggest airport, Dubai World Central will include:

  • 6 parallel runways, 4.5 km in length, each separated by a distance of 800 meters.
  • Three passenger terminals including two luxury facilities one dedicated to airlines of the Emirates Group, the second to other carriers, and the third dedicated to low cost carriers.
  • Multiple concourses
  • 16 cargo terminals with a 12 million ton capacity
  • Executive and Royal jet centres
  • Hotels and shopping malls
  • Support and maintenance facilities: the region’s only hub for A, B, and C Checks on all aircraft up to A380 specifications
  • Over 100,000 parking spaces (probably underground) for airport staff and passengers
  • Dubai World Central International Airport and the existing Dubai International Airport will be linked by a high speed express rail system
  • Dubai World Central International Airport will also be served by the Dubai Metro and a dedicated Dubai World Central light railway
  • Dubai World Central International Airport will be used by foreign carriers only. Emirates operations (both passenger and cargo) will remain at Dubai International Airport.
