Two months after the UT police arrested Zulfiqar Khan, director of Theatre Age, an NGO, for allegedly sodomising children belonging to his school, the police today submitted a 360-page chargesheet in the court against the accused.
The chargesheet was submitted in the court of Additional Sessions Judge JS Sidhu.
The police have charged Zulfiqar Khan under Sections 377 (unnatural sex), 292 (exhibiting obscene content) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC and Sections 4 and 16 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The case has now been adjourned to September 17 when arguments on framing of charges will begin in the court.
The statements of five complainants, four of whom are adults while the fifth one is a 15-year-old minor boy, have been included in the chargesheet which comprises a total of 34 prosecution witnesses, including the five complainants who are the victims.
The police have also included the medical examination report of the five victims and also their age proof as evidence. The CFSL report in the case is awaited and the police will file a supplementary challan once the report is received, sources said.
On July 11, the police had arrested the accused, Zulfiqar Khan, and acted on a complaint of two boys, both aged 21 years, who stated that they had been forced to have unnatural sex with Zulfiqar since the time they were eight years old and had been threatened to stay quiet. Three more complainants, including a minor boy, had also recorded their statements before the police then. Their statements have also been recorded before the Magistrate.
According to the chargesheet, Zulfiqar made the children watch porn movies at his Sector 25 school and then committed unnatural sex with them. The police said Zulfiqar used to bring the children to his Sector 25 school at night in the name of night classes and coaching them. “The students who faced problems in studying were called to the school at night for special classes. As they used to feel sleepy, he used to start touching them and force them to have sex with him,” states the chargesheet.
Incidentally, Zulfiqar Khan was celebrating his birthday on July 11 when the police arrested him from his Sector 24 school, where he had just cut his birthday cake.
The police had also seized sedatives and CDs of porn movies from his Sector 25 school, which was searched and videographed. The police also raided his residence and the Sector 24 school.
