पेट्रोल और डीजल की बढ़ती कीमतों के इस दौर में कार के शौकीनों के लिए यह सबसे बड़ी खुशखबरी है। 1 लीटर में 98 किलोमीटर की माइलेज देने वाली कार जल्दी ही सड़कों पर भागती-दौड़ती नजर आने वाली है। हम बात कर रहे हैं अमेरिका की जानी मानी कार कंपनी जेनरल मोटर्स की इलेक्ट्रीक कार ‘शेवरले वोल्ट’ की। जेनरल मोटर्स अपनी इस सेडान को नवंबर महीने में सड़कों पर उतार देगी। सबसे पहले इसकी बिक्री कैलिफोर्निया में की जाएगी। इसके बाद कंपनी इसे न्यूयॉर्क, न्यूजर्सी, वाशिंगटन और टेक्सास में लांच करेगी। अमेरिका में वोल्ट की कीमत 41 हजार डॉलर यानि करीब 19 लाख रुपए रखी गई है।


शेवरले वोल्ट इलेक्ट्रिक मोटर से लैस है, और इसके साथ 40 मील यानी 65 किलोमीटर का बैटरी पैक दिया जाता है। खास बात ये है कि इसके बैटरी पैक को आप किसी भी होम आउटलेट से रिचार्ज कर सकते है।


दुनिया भर में अब तक टोयोटा की ‘प्रायस’ को सबसे ज्यादा फ्यूल एफिशिएंट कार के तौर पर जाना जाता है। यह कार एक लीटर में 20 किलोमीटर चलती है। प्रायस गैस इलेक्ट्रिक हाइब्रिड कार है, जो एक छोटे से इंटर्नल कंबशन इंजन पर चलती है, जिसे सपोर्ट करने के लिए एक बैटरी पावर्ड इलेक्ट्रिक मोटर लगा होता है। टोयोटा ने अपनी इस हाइब्रिड कार को इसी साल दिल्ली में हुए ऑटो एक्सपो में भारत में लांच किया था। और करीब तीन महीने पहले भारत में इसकी बिक्री शुरू हुई है। दिल्ली में इसकी एक्स शोरुम कीमत करीब 27 लाख रुपए है।


यूं तो कार बनाने वाली दुनियाभर की कंपनियां हाईब्रिड और इलेक्ट्रीक कॉंसेप्ट पर फ्यूल एफिशिएंट कारें बनाने में जुटी हैं। लेकिन जानकारों की मानें वोल्ट की बदौलत जेनरल मोटर्स बाजार में मार्केट लीडर बन कर उभर सकता है।
