Last week, PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) made news as they approached Anoop Desai, the American Idol contestant for their new campaign ABC -- Animal Birth Control. But this week they have also written to Freida Pinto asking her to join the campaign. After American Idol's Anoop Desai, Freida Pinto is next on PETA's list.
Anuradha Sawhney, chief functionary -- PETA, says, "We have written to Freida Pinto as we want her to support the cause. We are hoping to hear from her soon. We have also written to Anoop Desai, reason being he is called 'Noop Dog' and is of Indian origin."
So will the two of them - Anoop and Freida be endorsing PETA together? Anuradha leaves it open-ended, saying, "We still have to decide as to what we want Frieda and Anoop to do. Till now, we have just started speaking to them to shoot for the cause. If they are willing to do something more, we would be glad."
Through the new campaign ABC, PETA wants to introduce two important initiatives. "Firstly, we want the municipality to understand that killing stray dogs is not the solution. It is vital to sterilise them," Anuradha informs us. "Secondly, people would be well-informed about removal of garbage. And lastly, we want people to adopt stray dogs instead of buying dogs. We want to catch people's attention and what better way than celebrity endorsements."
