1. Take loads of pictures. I guarantee that every few weeks you will want to look at them and relive the amazing experience you had. Don't forget to take one while standing on the line of the equator.

2. Visit the Masai Market in Nairobi where all kinds of handicrafts, from drums and masks to clothes and jewellery, made by the Masai people are on sale. (You may need to bargain hard.)

3. Eat at the Artcaffé Coffee and Bakery. It's located in Nairobi's Westgate Mall and is well known for its roasted coffee. The chocolate croissants and the tricolad (a type of cake) is a must. And weight watchers, don't worry about the calories. They will disappear once you go on the bone-rattling safari drives.

4. Wear a cosy jacket, make yourself a coffee or tea, and at 2am sit on the balcony in the Arc Hotel and observe the animals drinking water.

5. Braid your hair - and yes that applies to boys and girls.

6. Go on an entire day-game drive. Take along snacks, but don't feed anyone but yourself!

7. Visit the Massai Village and dance with the locals.

8. Go on a hot air balloon ride, and see the animals from a different perspective.

9. Visit the elephant and giraffe orphanages. There are not too many places in the world where you can interact this closely with animals. Cool fact: Giraffe saliva is antiseptic.

10. Go on a boat ride in Lake Nakuru and get chased by hippos while there is a thunder storm (not for the faint-hearted). Have the trip of your life and, as they say, Hakuna Matata!
