1. A 15-year-old Sikh boy's hair was cut forcibly in Edinburgh (Scotland) on 14th November by some local hooligans. Later, a number of such events happened in India as well although some of them later proved fake.

3. Centenary celebrations of the establishment of the pioneer Sikh institution Khalsa Diwan Society, Vancouver, British Columbia was held in the month of December.

4. Incidents of offensive behavior against Sikh Rehat Maryada at Ek Niwas Institute in Wolverhampton, reported by ‘Panthic Weekly’ in May.

5. ‘Rozana Spokesman’, a Punjabi daily, caught the attention of common people and published a controversial report questioning the authenticity of ‘Dasam Granth’ and thus kicked off a Great Debate on the issue among the community circles.

6. Many incidents of T.V. shows and Cinema attacking Sikh Identity were reported even this year. All the offenders had to finally apologize. On the other hand, a few movies like ‘Kambdi Kalaai’, and ‘The Widow Colony’ were made. Some animation movies on Sikh history were also produced.

So, now when the year has faded out into a pool of past, let us thank ‘Akal Purkh Waheguru’ for making our life of some use this year, and let us do an Ardas to Him for providing us with strength to fight against the odds, and for giving us the courage and kindness to help the needy and defend the weak. This New Year can be joyful for us only if 'Waheguru' keeps His kind shadow over us, as fifth Guru, Sri Guru Arjan Dev Ji says -
