yapp true that USMLE is required no matta where u do it, coz its a licensure exam, its not like MCATS, GRE, GMAT or anything, its for u to get a license to practice and honestly speaking it is damn hard, but besides that poucha aah india vaali gall i know maybe more than 20 people who went to india and tried saving time but ended up spending more.......lets do the math If u do it here, 4 yrs college + 4 yrs med school + 3 yrs residency = 11 yrs residency and sub-specialization are more like a real job, and as far as USMLE goes, u take it along those 4 years of med-skool, there is no extra time required, thats what ur school prepares you for. Now lets do India, 5 yrs of med-skool in india + 1 year of internship (internship is mandatory) and i wud say maybe 2-3 years of preparing and taking USMLEs (unless u are a gunner and a genius and can finish them in like 6 months), and this i tell from real sources, i have people in my family who went o india in NRI seats to become doc at top notch hospitals like DMC, been graduated for more than a year or so, still preparing for Step1 or Step 2.....will take another year to get to Step 3)......... So 5+1+2yrs = 8 , and same goes for residency for them, i mean what are they taking all the boards for? to get into residency, so 3 yrs of residency, 8+3= 11 years..... Hisaab barabar, i dont discourage anyone from going to india, par ahh jehra hisaab main hune keeta, shayad lot of people end up spending more time than this, if time is the only factor. My dad gave me a choice after high school if i wanted to go, that time NRI's ch trend vi bahut hunda si india dactri karan bhejan da apne bacheya nu, hun ta DMC ne NRI seats hi band kartiya.....i dunno what made me stay i didnt go.....And also trust me no offense to education, i know our docs there are smart, but my friend from there told me, this was her words, she said, jadd india cho dactar nikalda parke ta masa stethoscope hi launa aunda kanna ch, baaki sab baad ch expereince naal sikhda, meanwhile jadd aitho dactar nikalda padhke, ta residency ch ta residency ch u r given as much responsibilty as a full-time doc, so obviously u come out much more mature in ur field, BUt if u just considering the time factor, both ways it takes same time.........i have not seen anyone who goes to india and comes back being a practicing American MD in less than 11-12 yrs..........te fer jehre sub-specialization de 2 saal u said o ta india to aake vi ure karne hi paine aa............ |
