Youth shot dead by suspected militants in north Kashmir

A 20-year old man was shot dead by some suspected militants in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Wednesday.

Police said that Liyaqat Ali was shot dead in the forest area of Waderbala Handwara, nearly 95 km from Srinagar, early on Wednesday morning.

“He died on the spot,” a police officer said, although the gunmen have yet to be identified.

Waderbala forests in Handwara have witnessed many gunfights over the years.
IANS quoted a senior policeman as saying that the younsgter was abducted.
"He was kidnapped Tuesday night from Watsar village where he had gone to meet his sister." A probe has been launched to investigate the murder," the agency reported the official as saying.
