Sharjah: A young Arab girl was killed on Tuesday when she fell out of the window of her 11th floor apartment, confirmed Sharjah Police.
The incident occurred on Tuesday morning at a residential building in Al Khan. The girl died on the spot and her body was transferred to Al Kuwaiti Hospital.
This is the second such accident to occur in one week. A five-year-old Pakistani boy was killed on Saturday when he fell from the 5th floor.
A police official said the child sustained bruises and several fractures as a result of the fall.

The boy's father, identified by police as M.A., initially took the child to Al Kuwaiti Hospital and when he was pronounced dead, the body was transferred to Al Qasimi Hospital.

In response to the recent accidents, Sharjah Police have warned parents not to leave their children unattended at home and to instruct housemaids to keep a close watch on children. Hazardous items should also be kept away from children's reach, including kitchen knives and gas cylinders.
Police attribute the deaths to a lack of safety awareness and neglecting to install barriers at windows.
Police urged the public to regularly lock their windows and to place aluminium barriers at windows, to prevent children from falling out. People should also take care to store dangerous chemicals out of reach of children. These include detergents and other cleaning products.
