BANGALORE: Death by accident is always tragic, but all the more so if the deceased is a young person about to be married.

Twenty-six-year-old Bhavya's dreams of a blissfully wedded life were cut short after she was run over by a KSRTC bus right in front of her fiance Venugopal's eyes. The accident occurred on Sunday afternoon in Kumaraswamy Layout traffic police limits. Bhavya and Venugopal (30), both software engineers, were engaged about a week back.

At 2 pm on Sunday, they were riding on Kanakapura Main Road, returning home after collecting their engagement photo album from a studio. A KSRTC bus also bound towards the city from Kanakapura rammed into their motorcycle from behind. Both of them were thrown off the bike but Bhavya fell onto the side of the road on which the bus was speeding and came right under its wheels. She died on the spot.

Venugopal sustained severe head injuries and was rushed to KIMS Hospital. Bhavya was a resident of JP Nagar and Venugopal is a resident of Marathahalli. The bus driver Venkatapathy has been arrested.
