VILLAGERS BLOCK HIGHWAY OVER YOUTH'S SUICIDE

Rohtak August 11:
A youth was led to commit suicide in Kheri Sadh village of the district on Saturday night due to police inaction in a case where a woman in his family was allegedly having illicit relations with a man.
In strong reaction to the police laxity in handling the case which drove the youth to take such an extreme step, villagers blocked the Delhi-Hisar highway by putting the youth's body in middle of the road.
The agitated villagers said Suresh, the deceased, had caught his sister-in- law, (his brother's widow) in a compromising position with a man, resident of the same village. They said Suresh took both of them to Sampla police station and lodged a complaint against the man. However, the police refused to lodge a complaint asking the family to keep the woman in control.
The man, who allegedly had illicit relations with the woman, taunted Suresh and his family when they failed to get a case registered against him. They alleged that Suresh was being harassed by the person, which made the situation unbearable for him, and led him to take his life. The youth had left behind a suicide note indicting the name of the man.
A deputy superintendent of police had to intervene to pacify the mob when angry villagers forced an station house officer to leave the spot. Superintendent Alok Mittal said that a case of abetment to suicide under Section 306 of the IPC had been registered on the basis of the suicide note left behind by the deceased. "The allegation of police inaction would be inquired into and action would be taken if the concerned police post incharge was found guilty," the SP said.
