Ranchi March 17:

The Jharkhand Vigilance Bureau for the second consecutive day continued its searches over graft cases related to the just-concluded 34th National Games here.

Bureau officials raided the Ranchi house and office of S.M. Hashmi, Jharkhand Olympic Association (JOA) general secretary. "We have seized some incriminating documents in the raid," a source in the bureau told reporters.

Vigilance bureau officials raided three places Tuesday in connection with the lapses and irregularities in the purchase of equipment for the 34th National Games. The raids were conducted at houses of Hashmi and Madhukant Pathak, treasurer of the JOA, who were members of the organising committee for the Feb 12-26 National Games.

The vigilance bureau last year lodged a first information report against JOA president R.K. Anand, Pathak, Hashmi and others. There are allegations that the equipments used in National Games were purchased at exorbitant rates, causing losses to the state exchequer.
