UPA FAILED TO ACT AGAINST TERRORIST OUTFITS: BJP
Kollam August 11:
The BJP reiterated that Congress-led UPA government at the Centre failed to take tough action against terrorist outfits, including the Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI).
These outfits have spread their networks in all villages in the country, senior BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi, who was here to attend a RSS function, told reporters here. Earlier, the CPI(M) used to "put the brakes" on the UPA from acting tough against organisations like SIMI and now it is the Samajwadi Party which is preventing the Centre from taking action against religious fundamentalist organisations in the country, Joshi said.
The UPA government was not viewing the "terrorist issue" seriously, he added. On the Amarnath land row, he alleged that the UPA government's "inefficiency" had led to the present situation. It was for the Jammu and Kashmir government and Centre to find a solution to the problem, he said.
Joshi also said there was no relevance to the 'third front' being talked about by Left parties as the main fight in the coming polls would be between the Fronts led by BJP and Congress. "The Third Front is not a threat to BJP," he added.
