Patna: Two Bihar state government officials have been placed under suspension for posting their views against the ruling National Democratic Alliance government on Facebook.

The officials, Arun Narayan and Musafir Baitha, work in the Bihar Legislative Council — Upper House of the state Legislature — as assistants for the Council's Hindi publication and are award-wining writers for their thoughtful write-ups.

They complained that the government did not serve show-cause notices on them before initiating this severe departmental action. Both the officials were suspended last week by the Council's chairman, Tarakant, a senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader.

Authorities said Narayan had commented on the dismissal of rebel Janata Dal-United lawmaker Prem Kumar Mani, a renowned literatteur, saying this all was done under the influence of the JD-U. He had posted on his Facebook wall that if anybody tried to differ with Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's rules, then a sword hung over his head.
