TWO DIE IN ROAD ACCIDENT IN MULLANPUR

Ludhiana August 9:
Two persons, including one police constable and a government employee, died in a road accident. The car in which they were travelling collided head on with a truck near Kothari Resorts in Mullanpur.
The truck driver fled from the spot leaving behind his vehicle. The deceased have been identified as a constable Jugraj Singh and an employee at the Zira SDM office Kuldeep Singh. According to the police, both were posted with the Zira DSM T P Bansal, who lives in Ludhiana. Sources said that the duo was going back to Zira after dropping the SDM at his house in the city.
Sources said the residents from the nearby villages Hasanpur and Baddowal rushed to the site after hearing the noise of collision of the vehicles. SHO Balbir Singh said that they had registered a case under Section 304-A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against the absconding truck driver, who has not yet been identified. The SHO said the truck has been impounded. He said that efforts were on to arrest the accused.
