TEWARI TAKES ELECTORAL BATTLE TO GALIB’S HOME

Jagraon April 1:

The Congress took political battle to Galib’s village in Jagraon, the native village of Shiromani Akali Dal candidate Gurcharan Singh Galib, by organising a well-attended rally to score a political point.

And if the presence of people at the rally was an indication, the Galib village seems to have retained its love for the party irrespective of the fact whether Galib remains there or not. An upbeat Congress candidate Manish Tewari thanked the residents for reposing their faith and trust in the policies of the Congress and the leadership of Dr Manmohan Singh as the Prime Minister. An emotional Tewari told the residents, “It is not my personal battle, it is the battle for the prestige of Punjab, for reaffirming our belief and faith in the undisputed and distinguished leadership of Dr Manmohan Singh”.

The Congress leader urged people, “You have a deep and emotional relationship with the Congress and you have always stood by the party and today seeing you all here in such great numbers I have no doubt that the Congress will lead in this village with much bigger margins than in the past”. Tewari got frequents applause from the crowd who included men, women, youth and old alike.

He maintained, while at the centre it was going to be the vote for Manmohan Singh, in the state it was a referendum against the corrupt and vindictive policies of the SAD-BJP government. Tewari observed, “This Government has only done two things, intimidate people in false cases just because they supported the Congress and indulge in rampant and wanton corruption."

He said, the ruling family had monopolized everything, be it the sand mining, the transport or the cable operation. They have hardly left any space for the common man to survive. “After all there is an end to the greed of people, but the Akalis seem to have an undying hunger for money so they are putting there hand in every pie”, Tewari told a cheering crowd of few thousand people.

He was accompanied among others by locals leaders MLAs, including, Gurdeep Singh Bhaini and Darshan Singh Brar, Manjit Inder Singh Dhillon, Anand Saroop Singh, Inderjit Singh Dhillon, Jagrjit Singh Kaunke, Sadhu Singh Galib.
