Punjab News Terrorist attack Pathankot Air Force base, gunbattle on; 2 militants killed

ਪਠਾਨਕੋਟ ਦੇ ਏਅਰਫੋਰਸ ਸਟੇਸ਼ਨ 'ਤੇ ਅਚਾਨਕ ਅੱਤਵਾਦੀਆਂ ਵਲੋਂ ਫਾਇਰਿੰਗ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ। ਅੱਤਵਾਦੀਆਂ ਵਲੋਂ ਗੋਲੀਬਾਰੀ ਸਵੇਰ 4.30 ਤੋਂ 5.00 ਦੇ ਵਿਚਕਾਰ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਅਜੇ ਤਕ ਜਾਰੀ ਹੈ। ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਬਲਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਅੱਤਵਾਦੀਆਂ ਵਿਚਕਾਰ ਮੁਠਭੇੜ ਜਾਰੀ ਹੈ। ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਬਲਾਂ ਵਲੋਂ ਪੂਰੇ ਇਲਾਕੇ ਨੂੰ ਸੀਲ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ। ਦੋ ਦਿਨ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਅੱਤਵਾਦੀਆਂ ਵਲੋਂ ਸਰਹੱਦ ਪਾਰ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਸੀ।

ਪਠਾਨਕੋਟ ਦੇ ਏਅਰਫੋਰਸ ਸਟੇਸ਼ਨ 'ਤੇ ਅਚਾਨਕ ਅੱਤਵਾਦੀਆਂ ਵਲੋਂ ਫਾਇਰਿੰਗ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ। ਅੱਤਵਾਦੀਆਂ ਵਲੋਂ ਗੋਲੀਬਾਰੀ ਸਵੇਰੇ 4.30 ਤੋਂ 5.00 ਦੇ ਵਿਚਕਾਰ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਹੋਈ ਹੈ, ਜੋ ਅਜੇ ਤਕ ਜਾਰੀ ਹੈ। ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਬਲਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਅੱਤਵਾਦੀਆਂ ਵਿਚਕਾਰ ਮੁਠਭੇੜ ਜਾਰੀ ਹੈ। ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਬਲਾਂ ਵਲੋਂ ਪੂਰੇ ਇਲਾਕੇ ਨੂੰ ਸੀਲ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ। ਦੋ ਦਿਨ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਅੱਤਵਾਦੀਆਂ ਵਲੋਂ ਸਰਹੱਦ ਪਾਰ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਸੀ। ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਬਲਾਂ ਨੇ ਦੋ ਅੱਤਵਾਦੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੌਤ ਦੇ ਘਾਟ ਉਤਾਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ। ਅੱਤਵਾਦੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਗਿਣਤੀ ਚਾਰ ਤੋਂ ਪੰਜ ਦੱਸੀ ਜਾ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ।

ਪਠਾਨਕੋਟ ਅੱਤਵਾਦੀ ਹਮਲੇ 'ਚ ਦੋ ਜਵਾਨ ਸ਼ਹੀਦ ਅਤੇ ਦੋ ਅੱਤਵਾਦੀ ਮਾਰੇ ਗਏ ਹਨ। ਅੱਤਵਾਦੀ ਦੋ ਦਿਨ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਸੀਮਾਪੁਰ ਤੋਂ ਅੰਦਰ ਵੜੇ ਸੀ। ਜਿਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਹਮਲੇ ਨੂੰ ਪਲੈਨ ਕੀਤਾ। 2 ਘੰਟਿਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਲਗਾਤਾਰ ਅੱਤਵਾਦੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਮੁਠਭੇੜ ਚਲ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ। ਪੰਜਾਬ ਅਤੇ ਜੰਮੂ-ਕਸ਼ਮੀਰ 'ਚ ਰੈੱਡ ਅਲਰਟ ਜਾਰੀ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ। ਲਗਾਤਾਰ ਚਲ ਰਹੀ ਗੋਲੀਬਾਰੀ ਕਾਰਨ ਜੰਮੂ-ਪਠਾਨਕੋਟ 'ਤੇ ਗਸ਼ਤ ਤੇਜ਼ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ। ਇਲਾਕੇ ਵਿਚ ਹੈਲੀਕਾਪਟਰ ਜ਼ਰੀਏ ਵਧਾਈ ਜੀ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ ਚੌਕਸੀ ਵੀ ਵਧਾਈ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ। ਹੈਲੀਕਾਪਟਰ ਨਾਲ ਪੂਰੇ ਆਪ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਨ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਰਾਨੀ ਹੋ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ। ਅੱਤਵਾਦੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਨਿਜੱਠਣ ਲਈ ਹੈਲੀਕਾਪਟਰ ਦੀ ਪੂਰੀ ਮਦਦ ਲਈ ਜਾ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ। ਦੋ ਅੱਤਵਾਦੀ ਅਜੇ ਵੀ ਏਅਰ ਫੋਰਸ ਸਟੇਸ਼ਨ 'ਚ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਹਨ। ਹਵਾਈ ਸੈਨਾ ਨੇ ਅੱਤਵਾਦੀ ਹਲਮੇ ਦੀ ਪੁਸ਼ਟੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ।



ਪਠਾਨਕੋਟ 'ਚ ਏਅਰ ਫੋਰਸ ਸਟੇਸ਼ਨ 'ਤੇ ਸ਼ਨੀਵਾਰ ਤੜਕੇ ਅੱਤਵਾਦੀ ਹਮਲਾ ਹੋਇਆ, ਫੌਜ ਅਤੇ ਪੁਲਸ ਦਾ ਜੁਆਇੰਟ ਆਪਰੇਸ਼ਨ ਜਾਰੀ ਹੈ। ਮੁਠਭੇੜ 'ਚ 2 ਅੱਤਵਾਦੀ ਢੇਰ ਕੀਤੇ ਜਾ ਚੁੱਕੇ ਹਨ। ਮੁਠਭੇੜ 'ਚ ਡਿਫੇਂਸ ਸਰਵਿਸ ਕੋਰ ਦੇ 2 ਜਵਾਨ ਸ਼ਹੀਦ ਹੋ ਗਏ। 4 ਤੋਂ 6 ਅੱਤਵਾਦੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਏਅਰ ਫੋਰਸ ਸਟੇਸ਼ਨ 'ਚ ਘੁਸਪੈਠ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਖਬਰ ਹੈ। 2 ਅੱਤਵਾਦੀ ਏਅਰ ਫੋਰਸ ਸਟੇਸ਼ਨ ਕੋਲ 100 ਮੀਟਰ ਦੀ ਦੂਰੀ 'ਤੇ ਸਥਿਤ ਇੱਕ ਇਮਾਰਤ 'ਚ ਛੁਪੇ ਹਨ। ਹਵਾਈ ਫੌਜ ਦੇ ਹੈਲੀਕਾਪਟਰ ਘਟਨਾ ਵਾਲੀ ਜਗ੍ਹਾ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਰਾਨੀ ਕਰ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ।

ਅੱਤਵਾਦੀ ਫੌਜ ਦੀ ਯੂਨੀਫਾਰਮ 'ਚ ਆਏ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਤੜਕੇ ਤਕਰੀਬਨ 3 ਵਜੇ ਏਅਰਫੋਰਸ ਸਟੇਸ਼ਨ 'ਚ ਘੁਸਪੈਠ ਕਰਨ 'ਚ ਕਾਮਯਾਬ ਰਹੇ। ਇਹ 2 ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਘੇਰਿਆ ਨੂੰ ਤੋੜ ਕੇ ਏਅਰ ਫੋਰਸ ਸਟੇਸ਼ਨ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਦਾਖਲ ਹੋਏ। ਸੂਤਰਾਂ ਮੁਤਾਬਕ ਇਹ ਸਰਹੱਦ ਪਾਰ ਤੋਂ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੇ ਰਸਤੇ ਆਏ ਸੀ। ਇਹ ਅੱਤਵਾਦੀ ਆਤਮਘਾਤੀ ਹਮਲੇ ਦੀ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ 'ਚ ਸੀ। ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਅੱਤਵਾਦੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਗਰਨੇਡ ਸੁੱਟੇ ਅਤੇ ਫਿਰ ਜਵਾਨਾਂ 'ਤੇ ਗੋਲੀਬਾਰੀ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ। ਇਹ 6 ਮਹੀਨਿਆਂ 'ਚ ਪੰਜਾਬ 'ਚ ਦੂਜਾ ਵੱਡਾ ਹਮਲਾ ਹੈ।

ਪਠਾਨਕੋਟ 'ਚ ਏਅਰ ਫੋਰਸ ਸਟੇਸ਼ਨ 'ਤੇ ਸ਼ਨੀਵਾਰ ਤੜਕੇ ਅੱਤਵਾਦੀ ਹਮਲਾ ਹੋਇਆ, ਅਜੇ ਵੀ ਫੌਜ ਅਤੇ ਪੁਲਸ ਦਾ ਜੁਆਇੰਟ ਆਪਰੇਸ਼ਨ ਜਾਰੀ ਹੈ।

Police have shot dead two terrorists who launched a brazen attack on Pathankot Air Force station early Saturday morning. Reportedly, the terrorists came in Army uniforms.
According to sources, the terrorists attacked the Air Force base from a nearby building in a village at around 4am.
Police have cordoned off the whole area and army have been called. Number of terrorists is reported to be around four to six.
DIG (Border) Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh informed that police had shot dead two terrorists while the operation was in progress to neutralize rest of them.

A fierce gunbattle is underway between the security forces and the attackers just a few metres away from the air base. Two terrorists have been neutralized so far.
Helicopters have also been dispatched to the area for assistance in operation.
Barely 12 hours ago, suspected militants in Army outfit had kidnapped Gurdaspur's former Superintendent of Police Salwinder Singh on Pathankot-Jammu road. However SP along with his two colleagues were released after an hour.

Four militants and two security personnel were reported killed in a terror attack at Pathankot Air Force Station early this morning. More terrorists were suspected to have infiltrated from Pakistan.
Even as the National Security Guard was mobilised, the Army and Air Force have launched a major operation to neutralise the attack, including the deployment of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The commander of the local Army brigade was said to be coordinating the operation.
The terrorists were believed to have been contained in the domestic area of Pathankot Air Force Station; technical area of the airbase was safe. No damage to Air Force assets was reported thus far. Exchange of fire was still continuing.
The attack comes days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi's unscheduled visit to Pakistan.
The intruders wearing Army uniforms were suspected to have entered the Air Force premises near the Chakki river in an official vehicle around 3.30 am.
Helicopters were also dispatched to the area for assistance in the operation, DIG (Border) Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh told ANI.
A security alert was sounded in the area earlier on Friday when an SP-rank officer reported that five militants in Army fatigues and armed with rifles and grenades had abducted him and two of his acquaintances from a Pathankot village near the international border. He said he was set free an hour later, 35 km away.
The recovery of the body of a 24-year-old, Ikagar Singh, from the kidnapping site had deepened the mystery.
Former Gurdaspur SP (Headquarters) Salwinder Singh, who was transferred two days ago as Assistant Commandant, 75th Battalion, PAP complex, Jalandhar, told investigators that he, Gurdaspur-based jeweller Rajesh Verma and his cook Mohan Lal were on their way to a religious place in his car when they were kidnapped in Kolian village, that is covered by the Narot Jaimal Singh police station.
He said that the kidnappers threw him off the vehicle and slit Verma’s throat. Verma is recuperating at a hospital in Pathankot. The other two were pushed out likewise and the car, with a blue beacon, was abandoned near Tajpur village, he said.
Stunned, Additional DGP (Law and Order) HS Dhillon, IG (Border) Lok Nath Angra, DIG Kunwar Vijay Partap Singh and Gurdaspur and Pathankot SSPs Gurpreet Singh Toor and RK Bakshi rushed to Pathankot.
“In the light of the Dinanagar attacks, we are taking extra caution. The officer’s claims are being verified,” said a senior officer.
After the incident, the BSF and neighbouring police districts were put on high alert. Dhanpreet Kaur, Hoshiarpur SSP, set up base at Mukerian, 30 km from Pathankot.
Gurdaspur and Pathankot police teams had begun search operations. Salwinder Singh wass already facing charges for breach of discipline. The Pathankot SSP said on receiving a call at 2.30 am that militants had kidnapped an SP-rank officer in the Narot Jaimal Singh area, he, DSP Kuldeep Singh and the Narot SHO started a search operation.
“At, 3.15 am, the control room received another call that the SP and his car had been spotted near Tajpur village following which we took the officer to Pathankot,” he said.

8.00 a.m.: Heavy security forces deployed outside Pathankot Air Force Station. The entire state of Punjab is on high alert after #Pathankot attack, says Surinder Singh, SHO, Sarabha Nagar.

8.05 a.m.: Defence sources said army has been moved out on the highway to ensure no militant was able to sneak into Jammu and Kahsmir. “There is a general alert on the international border (IB) in Kathua district and Border Security Force troops guarding the IB have been ordered to be extra vigilant”, the officer confirmed.

8.10 a.m.: High alert was sounded on Pathankote-Jammu national highway on Saturday after terror attack in neighbouring Punjab.

8.14 a.m.: Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah tweeted "From past experience I'm sure it emerge that these militants crossed over within the last few hours with the airbase as a specific target."

8.15 a.m.: Based on developments on Friday, alert was sounded accordingly. 2 army columns, Special Forces and NSG were present in area.

8.17 a.m.: Local brigade commander of army is coordinating the operations, army UAVs and IAF also involved in operation.

8,55 a.m.: Suspected Pakistani terrorists today attacked an Air Force Base here in Punjab, triggering an encounter in which four attackers and two IAF personnel were killed and 6 security men were injured.

High alert was sounded on Pathankote-Jammu national highway on Saturday after terror attack in neighbouring Punjab.

A group of four to five terrorists on Saturday struck at the Air Force base Pathankot in Punjab, triggering an encounter in which two attackers have bee killed, the police have said. Firing is still on near the Air Force base.

According to early accounts, the attack resembled a similar raid last year by gunmen on a border town in Punjab that killed nine people.

Gun fire shots can be heard from the both sides, SSP R.K. Bakshi said, adding that two suspected militants were killed in the battle.

The terrorists launched the attack at the base in the wee hours.

Meanwhile, authorities said the helicopters and other equipment in the Air base was safe.

An unknown number of militants have launched an attack on the army and police personnel after a combing operation was launched yesterday in the area between installation and Chakki river, police said

The entire area has been cordoned off, police said.

The attackers, who had abducted an SP on Friday, had also made calls to Pakistan, police said.

The attack comes days after PM Narendra Modi’s unscheduled visit to Pakistan.

It is the second big terror attack in Punjab within less than a year as last year three militants stormed a police station in Diana Nagar before being eliminated after 12 hour gun battle.

Yesterday, five suspected militants abducted an SP and two others and thrashed them before dumping them from vehicle.

After the incident a combing operation was launched in the border areas of Pathankot and Gurdaspur districts.​
