Ten-year-old boy burnt to death in Alipur near Delhi

New Delhi, March 14: A 10-year-old boy was burnt to death allegedly by five drunk members of a marriage party in Alipur village on the outskirts of the capital, leading to tension in the area.

The burnt body of Sanjeev was found in an agricultural field in Alipur on Thursday night, a senior police official said.

Though police said it was not yet clear as to what led to the murder, locals claim the boy, who was riding a bicycle, was hit by the vehicle of a marriage party travelling to Alipur village from Meerut.

The boy apparently demanded a compensation to repair his bicycle and enraged over this, four men came out of the car and allegedly beat him up.

He was then burnt to death allegedly by members of the marriage party.

The body of the boy was found one km inside the village and locals suspect the involvement of the members of the marriage party.

"We have detained five members of the marriage party including two cab drivers in this connection," official said.

Tension prevailed in the area after the body was recovered. A case has been registered and investigations are on.
