Students put energy saving ideas on canvas

A poster-making competition was organised by Atulya Foundation for students of Class III-V here today.
The theme of the competition was ‘Save Energy’ and it saw participation of 280 students from various schools.
Atulya Foundation president Mahavir Negi said the competition was organised to inculcate sensibility and care towards energy conservation among the younger generation. “Earlier, we generated awareness towards pollution in the holy Ganga through marches and cultural programmes. Now, we are focusing on various related issues so that environment, energy and water can be effectively saved.
Chief guest at the occasion social activist Jagdeesh Lal Pahwa said creativity of the participants itself pointed at the immense sensibility and knowledge the younger lot had.
The first prize was won by Varunika Chaudhari, student of Shiv Dale Public School, Jagjeetpur. The second spot was bagged by Abighya Ranjan of Central School, while Prartha Verma, also of Central School, BHEL, stood third.
Students from BHEL Education Management Board, Bal Vidya Mandir, DAV Public School, Jagjeetpur, Maharishi Vidya Mandir, Bharat Siksha Sansthan, among other schools, took part in the one-day event.
General secretary of Atulya Foundation Vikas Chauhan said they held awareness events related with pollution in the Ganga, female foeticide, environment conservation and related social issues from time to time.
