The Indian postal department will on January 15 issue a commemorative postage stamp to mark 100 years of the Gujarati Catholic periodical Doot, the second oldest publication in Gujarat. First launched in January 1911 in Mumbai, it was meant for the Catholic community of Gujarat. But over the years, it grew to cater to a cross section of society belonging to all religious and cultural backgrounds. For the last several years, it is being published and printed from Anand. "It is a great achievement for a Gujarati periodical which was first published by The Examiner Press in Mumbai to stand the vagaries of time and be published every single month without a break for 100 years," Father Cedric Prakashtold Gulf News.
