Now Skype will also support such Microsoft devices as Kinect, Xbox, Windows Phone and other Windows devices. In addition, Microsoft is planning to connect Skype users with such communities as Outlook, Lync, Xbox Live and others.

Microsoft Corp. announced yesterday of acquisition of Skype Global. The deal totaled at $8.5 billion. This move is considered to help the company improve the communications between Microsoft networked platforms.

Microsoft said in a press release that the deal is planned to enhance the accessibility of real-time video and voice communications within the Microsoft networked platforms. This is supposed to benefit both outside and enterprise users, while generating new considerable business and revenue opportunities. Combination with Skype’s world-class brand, Microsoft acquires the easier reach of its networked platform, at the same time improving the company’s existing record of real-time communications clients and services.

Previously, one of the many obstacles for Microsoft has been an inability to stave off competition in face of Google and Apple that offered their GTalk and Facetime video chat possibilities. Now, when it has brought Skype on board, it caused an immediate and generous boost in that direction.

Among the promised new features there is a Skype support of such Microsoft devices as Xbox and Kinect, along with Windows Phone and other devices running Windows. Apart from this, Microsoft also promised to connect Skype with communities like Lync, Outlook, and Xbox Live.

Steve Ballmer, Microsoft CEO, promised to create the future of real-time communications together with Skype, so that people all over the world could easily stay in touch with their families, friends, and business partners wherever they are.

Before this acquisition, Skype was acquired by eBay 6 years ago, but the company failed to really find a meaningful synergy with Skype Global. However, now Tony Bates, Skype Chief Executive, admitted that Skype and Microsoft share the same vision of delivering software innovation and servicers to the Internet users, which would help them to accelerate the plans of extending their global community. Besides, the cooperation will reveal new ways for everyone to communicate and work together
