Siswan-baddi road will be key link: Dhindsa

Mohali November 19:

Punjab government has decided to spend around Rs 5,000 crore on the widening of main roads in the state in next two years after already spending Rs 2,600 crore. State PWD minister Parminder Singh Dhindsa said this while inaugurating the Rs 15 crore inter-state road connecting Siswan in Mohali with Baddi in Himachal Pradesh.

Dhindsa said the Siswan-Baddi road would be known as the main highway of state in the coming days as it would connect the industrial areas of three states of Punjab, Haryana and HP. He said that new road would reduce the distance between Mohali, Chandigarh and Pinjore to Baddi and link Pinjore, Nalagarh, Swaraghat and NH-21A and Chandigarh. Apart from reducing traffic congestion on existing Chandigarh-Panchkula-Baddi road, it would provide easy access to Baddi through Siswan.

Ludhiana, Ferozepur, Moga, Muktsar and Bathinda too would be facilitated through this road. He said the 1214.12 lakh was already spent on the construction of three bridges on this road. Claiming that state government is committed to ensuring all-round development of rural areas, Dhindsa said that government has spent Rs 125 crore on the development of Morinda constituency, especially the Kandi areas. Out of this, Rs 36 crore was spent on the construction of roads alone, while Rs 27 crore projects are under construction.
