Two sisters, both in their teens, allegedly bludgeoned to death their 45-year-old father after they were unable to bear what they called "constant sexual abuse" by the man who they thought would love and protect them. In a bizarre turn of events they then confessed to the crime on camera, which has now gone viral.
Police, however, disregarding the video and the justification of the two girls for the murder, said it was all accident and the man, Karan Singh, fell to his death.
Speaking to TOI, station officer of Medical College police station Ravindra Kumar said, "Karan Singh was a chronic alcoholic. In the early hours of Friday, he reached home in an inebriated state, staggered inside, hit his head against a wall and fell. He suffered severe injuries and died instantly. The body has been sent for post-mortem."
In the video, though, the girls have explained how they killed their father with repeated blows of a hammer to his head. "Yes, we have killed him because he used to make sexual advances towards us," they can be heard as they turn to a camera, their faces covered with dupattas. "We battered him to death using a hammer. At least he will not create problems for us now." Chillingly, in the video the hammer allegedly used for the crime can be seen near the body of their father lying in a pool of blood. The family lives in Rajnagar locality here, near the Lala Lajpat Rai Memorial (LLRM) Medical College.
Local residents said Singh's wife left his home on Friday after the incident, taking with her their their 5-year-old son. They confirmed that he was was an alcoholic and that "noisy fights were common in the house.
Superintendent of police (city) Om Prakash refused to talk about the video for reasons best known to him. "We do not know what these girls have said in the video. What we know is that an FIR has been filed under IPC sec 304A (death caused by negligence). We are waiting for the post-mortem report," the officer said.
