SIKH PROTESTERS WHO COURTED ARREST RELEASED

Sirsa August 14:
All Sikh protesters, who courted arrest in protest against reconstruction work at the "Naam Charcha Ghar" of the Dera Sacha Sauda in Ghookanwali village were released early.
Led by Sukhvinder Singh Khalsa, president of the Haryana State Guru Granth Sahib Satkar Sabha (GGSSS), Baljit Singh Dadu, president of the Khalsa Action Committee, about a hundred Sikhs assembled at village Odhan last evening to protest the reconstruction of 'Naam Charcha Ghar' wall at Ghookanwali.
Anticipating trouble, the district administration had already deployed a heavy police and paramilitary forces on the entire route from Odhan to village Ghookanwali to avert any further clashes between the Sikhs and the Dera followers over the reconstruction of the Dera building.
However, when the protesters, defying advice of the administration, made a bid to proceed towards Ghookanwali, the security forces stopped them from going to Ghookanwali. The protesters then courted arrest and all of them were taken into custody at the Fatehabad police lines where they were kept for the night.
